How we check

We make the rounds every week. Every listing is checked against the organizer's own page before it runs, and checked again Thursday morning before the email goes out. Anything that changed gets fixed, and every page starts with today.

What you will see

Most listings carry no label at all: if it's on the page, we checked it. Two labels do show up:

Time changed: start moved from 8:00p to 7:00p
Something changed after the listing first ran. We say what.
Verified by [the church]
The owner confirmed it themselves. Verifying is free.

The example in brackets is a placeholder, not a real business.

The lists

Lists like Brunch and Coffee are ranked by how many recent local best-of lists name each place, and every pick links to who named it. Nobody can pay to be on a list.

Past events

Every page starts with today and looks ahead 7 days, rebuilt every morning, so nothing that already ended is ever listed.

Members, explained

Members are local businesses that pay a monthly fee. Their card is built like the rest of the page, with their own photo, their own words and a small Member tag, and Members in the same spot take turns, one step each day. No more than three businesses share a category in an edition, so each one gets real time on the page.

Some Members add a reader deal: a real offer you get by saying “The Rounds.” A Member Spotlight is a longer profile of one person at a member business, one per category in each edition.

Our first Members are Founding Members. They get their first 90 days free while we test, and they follow the same rules. If anyone at a Member business is related to someone at The Rounds, the card says so.

Being a Member never changes where a place lands on a list, in Reader picks or in the event listings. Member links are marked as paid for search engines too.

Reader picks

Readers vote, one vote per email a week. Winners get a window sticker. A Reader pick can't be bought, bundled or sold, ever.

Photos

An event's photo comes from its organizer's own page or share image. It's credited on the event's page, and the listing links back to them. We screen out stock and agency photos, and we keep the photographer's credit that's written inside the file. No photo we can use? The event gets a picture for its kind of event, with its own date and name on a label. Those pictures are made with an AI image model, never show a real place or person, and say so inside the file.

Is a photo here yours, and you'd rather it weren't? Use the form just below or reply to any Thursday email, and it comes down the same day. No questions asked.

Something wrong?

Reply to any Thursday email or tell us here and we recheck the source that day. If we got it wrong, we fix it and say what changed.
