What people ask in their first month in Williamson County: the answer, town by town, and the official page for each.

01Trash and recycling day

Franklin. The city collects trash, blue bin recycling, bulky items, brush and yard waste at homes inside city limits. Have containers at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day. Official page

Brentwood. Brentwood does not run its own trash pickup. Residents contract with a private hauler such as Republic Services, Waste Management, GoRecycles or Brentwood Disposal (many HOAs pick one), or take trash and recycling to a Williamson County convenience center. Official page

Spring Hill. The city contracts trash and recycling with WM, billed on your city water and sewer statement. Trash goes out weekly and recycling every other week by address; carts must be at the curb by 6:00 a.m. Official page

Nolensville. The town does not run trash pickup. Residents hire a private hauler (the town keeps a list of trash removal providers, and many HOAs choose one) or use a Williamson County convenience center. Official page

02Water and city utilities

Franklin. Water and sewer come from the City of Franklin for much of the city and from a utility district in some outer areas, so check your address with the city. Middle Tennessee Electric supplies power and Atmos Energy supplies natural gas. Official page

Brentwood. Brentwood Water Services provides water and sewer for most of the city, billed by the city. Power comes from Nashville Electric Service in the north part of the city and Middle Tennessee Electric in the south, so check your address. Official page

Spring Hill. The City of Spring Hill provides water and sewer, set up at the same time as your trash account. The state put a sewer moratorium on the city in 2026, which limits new sewer connections; the city's news page lists which projects can still connect. Official page

Nolensville. Water comes from the Nolensville/College Grove Utility District for most addresses, and Middle Tennessee Electric supplies power. Check your address with the utility before you move. Official page

03Which school is yours

Franklin. Franklin Special School District runs eight pre-K to 8th grade schools in the central part of the city, and its students go on to Williamson County Schools for high school. The rest of Franklin is in Williamson County Schools for every grade; your street address decides which. Official page

Brentwood. All of Brentwood is in Williamson County Schools, which has about 42,000 students in 52 schools for 2025 to 2026. Your street address decides your zoned schools. Official page

Spring Hill. Homes on the Williamson County side of Spring Hill are in Williamson County Schools; homes on the Maury County side are in Maury County Public Schools. Check which county your address is in first. Official page

Nolensville. Nolensville is in Williamson County Schools, with Nolensville High School, Mill Creek Middle and two elementary schools in town. Your street address decides your zoned schools. Official page

04Register your car

Williamson County Clerk, title and registration. The Williamson County Clerk titles and registers vehicles, including for new residents moving in from another state. Tennessee no longer requires vehicle emissions testing, so there is no inspection step before you register. Official page

05Register to vote

Williamson County Election Commission. Register online through the Tennessee Secretary of State (GoVoteTN) if you have a Tennessee driver license or ID, or with a paper form sent to the Williamson County Election Commission. Official page
